DEPARTMENT OF ADULT EDUCATION AND EXTENSION SERVICES IN BRIEF
The department was set up in October, 1977. It was provide, among other things, tertiary non-degree courses for the production of academic/professional manpower at the middle-level leading to the award of university Diplomas/Certificates in arts, humanities and the sciences.
The department got senate approval to run degree programmes in 1995, and also changed to its current name, i.e., Department of Adult Education and Extension Services. It offers Under-graduate, Masters and Ph.D. Degree programmes in Adult and Primary Education.

The vision of the Department is to be a center of excellence in terms of teaching, research and community service in the field of pre – primary and primary education and adult and non-formal education.
Our Mission
The mission of the Department is to provide quality teaching, research and community services to mankind, irrespective of social class, gender, race, nationality and religion under the most favorable and conducive atmosphere in adult and non formal education, continuing education, community development programmes and pre – primary and primary education.
