UDUS Team Wins Global Award for Innovative Solar-Powered Milking Machine
UDUS participated in the 2024 edition of the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge and won a bronze medal. The Efficiency for Access Design Challenge is a global, multidisciplinary competition empowering university student teams to accelerate clean energy access by creating affordable, high-performing off-grid appliances and enabling technologies. The winning team, an inter-university collaboration, consisted of two M.Sc. Renewable Energy students from UDUS – AbdulAzeez Mohammed and Muhammad Mustapha – who worked alongside Sabin Shrestha from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal. The team designed a solar-powered DC milking machine for dairy cattle under the supervision of Prof. Misbahu Ladan Mohammed and received an award of $1,423.19 from the Energy Saving Trust, UK, to develop a prototype of their design.
