i. B.Sc. (Biochemistry)
In addition to the general requirements for admission into the University, candidates intending to read the B.Sc. Degree in Biochemistry must have fulfilled the conditions set out below:
a. Entry into 100 Level: A Candidate must have five credits in relevant subjects (including Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and English) in SSCE or its equivalent. This is in addition to obtaining the required points in the UTME.
b. Direct Entry into 200 level: For direct entry into B.Sc. Biochemistry, candidates should have two GCE A’ level passes or equivalent in Chemistry and any one of the following subjects: Physics, Mathematics and Biology, in addition to obtaining the minimum O’ level requirements.
ii. PGD (Biochemistry)
Five O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics; and any of the a-c below.
a. Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with a minimum of 3rd class of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other recognized institutions.
b. Bachelor’s degree in relevant areas from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other recognized institutions with a minimum of 3rd class where the degrees are classified.
c. Membership of Institute of Medical Laboratory Science (MIMLS), Associate of Institute of Medical Laboratory Science (AIMLS), HND and its equivalent with minimum of upper credit pass.
In addition, a candidate must satisfy the matriculation requirement of the University. Any other qualification acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and the Senate of the University.
iii. M.Sc. (Biochemistry)
Five O’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics; and any of a-b below
a. Bachelor degree in Biochemistry, of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other recognized institutions with minimum of second class lower division.
b. Bachelor degree in related disciplines such as Chemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Physiology, Zoology, Botany and Biotechnology of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other recognized institution with minimum of second class lower division.
In addition, a candidate must satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University. Any other qualification acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and the Senate of the University.
iv. M.Phil (Biochemistry)
Five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and any other recognized institutions with minimum of second class lower division. The Candidate must also possesses any of a and b below.
a. Master of Science degree in Biochemistry or Nutrition of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other recognized institutions with CGPA of less than 3.50 on a 5.0 point scale or its equivalent.
b. Master of Science degree in cognate disciplines such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Human and Veterinary Medicine from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other recognized institutions with CGPA of less than 3.50 on a 5.0 point scale or its equivalent.
In addition a candidate must satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University. Any other qualification acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and the Senate of the University.
v. PhD
Five O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other recognized institution with minimum of second class lower division. Master of Science degree in Biochemistry or its equivalent from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other recognized institutions with CGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale or its equivalent.
In addition a candidate must satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University. Any other qualifications acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University.
