INTRODUCING THE EAGLESCAN ANTI-PLAGIARISM SOFTWARE IN UDUS
This is to bring to the attention of the University Community that the federal government has launched an anti-plagiarism detection software, called EagleScan.The software is the brain child of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU). It was presented to the public on the 27thof April2021. The event was graced by the Vice President –Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
The software is aimed at providing an affordable plagiarism detection platform for Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. The features built into the Software include: Plagiarism checking, peer review mechanism, integration with local and global repositories, support for documents comparison, similarity index checking, grammar checking, local language support, and research title/topic validation checking. It also allows for download of report on document checked and allows individual users to create, update, delete accounts,and also manage subscriptions as desired.The software also allows for uploads of copies of documents into local repositories as well as support for seamless integration with our blended learning platform.
To this end, the Senate,at its 342ndmeeting held on Wednesday, 30thJune, 2021 approved that the University Management should deploy the software for the use of the University Community. The Software is free to use by any interested member of the University until the 27thof July, 2021. Thereafter, each user will pay the sum of One Thousand One-Hundred and Fifty Naira (N1,150.00) only per annum for unlimited use of the application.
To test the application, members of the University community are encouraged to:
- Login to the website of the software: https://eaglescan.ng
- Scroll down and click on “Register now” under Nigerian Universities.
- In the next page for “user subscription page 1 for Nigerian universities”, locate and click on “Usmanu Danfodiyo University”.
- Fill the subscription form and click on “Register”to register your name.
- This will allow the super admin of the University to activate you to start using the software.
The University is in the process of establishing the implementation framework for the platform in the University.
