DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY IN BRIEF
The Department of Biological Sciences is one of the four foundation Departments of the Faculty of Science that started operation in October 1977. The Department is composite in nature comprising three units running programmes in Botany and Zoology in 1977. In 1989, the programme in Microbiology was added to it. Following the introduction of minimum academic standard (MAC) in Nigerian Universities, the Biology programme started in 1992-93 session. To date, The Department is composed of 3 units (Biology, Botany and Zoology) following the upgrade of Microbiology to Department.

To inhere amongst the students the highest values of life, respect for nature and inculcate sound acquisition of knowledge especially for life objects through quality educational practices.
Our Vision
To prepare responsible, trained manpower in Biology through provision of knowledge in science and Biotechnology for conservation and protection of biodiversity
