through the Science and Technology Post Basic (STEP-B) project. The proposal is on improving information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure for virtual learning in the partner institutions. The proposal, having met the Project Development Objectives (PDO) of the World Bank, was approved for execution at the total sum of N58 million. The proposal has the following components;
1. Development of a generic campus portal based on our requirements. The portal will integrate information from Students Record System. Staff Information System, Library Information System and Some aspects of the Financial System all to be developed as part of the project.
2. Set up a virtual library in each partner institution through digitization of our local contents and make same available for access on our networks. Very good Free and Open Source Digital Library Software will be used for this. The Library will also include Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) of our local holdings in the Library.
3. Strengthen the networks in the partner institutions through purchase of network facilities and strengthening the technical capacity of our staff to be able to access and manage the resources effectively.
