NOTICE TO CONTRIBUTORS
Papers for the journal are to be original contributions. The author are entirely responsible for the accuracy of data and statements. It is also the responsibilty of of authors to seek written permission, from personal or agencies concerned, whenever copryrighted material is used.
Manuscript: Submit an original copy plus 3 photocopies in English on good quality A4 size paper. Type the text, references, legends, footnotes, abstarct and tables all double spaced. It is important to leave a margin of at least 25mm all around each page. Nothing should be underlinedexcept generic and species name(s) (where it cannot be italicised) and secondary subtitle. For final acceptance, 2 hard copies of the corrected manuscript and an eectronic copy (to be send via the e-mail: njbas_udus@yahoo.co.uk), in microsoft word format, should be submitted.
Title Page: Short titles, not more than 15 words, which identify the subject, are preffered for indexingand information retrieval purposes. The title page should include the names of author(S), professional affiliations and complete address (including e-mail) of the author to whom correspondence and proof should be sent.
Abstract: An abstract, not exceeding 200 words, should precede the introduction. Do not include reference or unfamiliar abbreviations or symbols.
Figures: Graphs and charts should be prepared in a constant style, including lettering and numbering. They should be clearly drawn with India ink on hard-surface paper or supplied in the form of good quality glossy prints. They should not be larger than 21 x 30cm including margins. On the back photographs, graphs, and drawings write, in pencils, the author(S) name(s) and the figure number, also indicate "top whenever appropriate, indicate magnification or size of a photograph or with a scale line; otherwise give the magnification in the legend. Legends for figures should be typed on a seperate sheet, quadruple-spaced between legends. Abbreviate Fig.
Tables: Each table should have a brief descriptive title. Do not include explanatory material in titles; use footnotes keyed with lower case letters at the bottom of the table. Horizontal rules should be placed on-half space or move below a typed line. Define all data in column heads with appropriate units or description. Explanations can be footnotes keyed with lower case letters. Plan your tables not to be wider than 66 characters, including space, or 11cm wide printed.
References: Literature citations in the text should be by author(s) and year. A complete listing in alphabetical order should appear at the end of the text. Titles of journals should be in full. Excludes from listing, references to theses, abstracts, unpublished data, personal communication and manuscripts in preparation not yet in press. Reference to such sources should appear parenthically in the text. Journal abbreviations if used should be in accordance with the word-list of scientific periodicals. Charges: Reviewed manuscripts are published only if a charge of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) (or $100 for International contributors) only payable to the Editor-in-Chief, Nigerian Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences at Sokoto Nigeria. manuscript in excess of 12 typed, double spaced pages on A4 paper attract additional charge of seven hundred naira (or $8.00) per page. Photographs and plates especially coloured would be surchaged the cost of off-setting in addition to normal page. All contributors shall henceforth pay the sum of one thousand five hundred naira (N2,000) only as handling charges.
Proofs: Galley-proofs will be sent to the author of correspondence. They should be returned within 48hours of receipt after correction.
Off-prints: Author receive 3 off-prints in addition to a copy of the journal. Additional copies may be purchased if ordered when the proofs are returned.
Book Reviews: Editors and publishers of books in Basic and Applied sciences are invited to send copies of their publications to the Editor -in- Chief. Book review charges range from five to twenty thousand naira (N5,000 - N20,000). |
