V.C. Calls for UDUS/America Relationship
The Vice-chancellor, Professor Tijjani Muhammad Bande, OFR has advocated for partnership with the American Government with a view to promoting academic excellence. The Vice-Chancellor was speaking during a courtesy call paid to the University by the American Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms Robin Sundus. The Vice-Chancellor said it was a duty to work with others to break barriers for the overall benefit of human race.
He further stated that Usmanu Danfodiyo University even though a second generation institution could be compared to any other recognized university in terms of academic excellence and its peaceful atmosphere. He acknowledged the many efforts by American Government to promote teaching and learning in the university citing the American corner and lectures delivered to students by visiting foreign dignitaries for examples The Vice-Chancellor thanked the Ambassador for honouring her pledge to visit the university and urged her to use the various means available and assist the university which was established in 1975, While responding, the American Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the achievements made by the university and the caliber of learned individuals at the helm of running the academic activities of the institution. Ms. Sundus said there were various channels through which American Government could reach out to the university calling for regular contacts, exchange programmes and expansion of the American Corner activities for such purpose. She promised to pay another visit to the university in future with a view to giving lecture to the students of the institution. The Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the warm reception accorded her by the University.
